The most common type of tanning bed is the type that you lay down in. There are UV bulbs along the bottom of it and the top closes over you with more UV bulbs on the top. While this design works very well for getting a good, even tan along you front and back, you will be unpleasantly surprised that both of your side will not be getting any benefits. This can leave your tan looking very uneven.
To prevent this from happening, pay close attention to the time you are going to be in the tanning session. Make sure you turn on your side half way through each session. This will allow you to get an even tan all over. Since many people relax during their tanning session or even fall asleep, take a small timer in with you so you don’t forget.
Some people decide to lie on their back one session, then their side the next. Yet this won’t give you an even tan. Most tanning salons have many different beds, and you will likely get a different one each time. The bulbs in them vary in strength depending on how old they are.
Make sure you keep your arms and legs spread apart while using the tanning bed or you will end up with areas between your legs and on the inside of your arms that don’t get tan. You also need to make sure you tilt your head back or remove the pillow from the tanning bed. Otherwise your chin will rest on your neck and it won’t get any color either.
For a natural looking tan from a tanning bed, you need to ensure all parts of your body get exposed to the same amount of UV rays in each session. If you don’t, your tan will look very uneven and fake.
